The NAWC-AD MSA Laboratories conduct DOD classified developments similar to ASD. As a result, Sabre must research, incorporate and comply with the requisite DOD information and physical security mandates. Sabre authors operational security plans and standard operating procedures (SOP). Sabre analyzes and uses security regulations and checklists, and translates these requirements into local procedures for the on-site environment. Sabre manages the daily computer operations for the MSA network and peripherals. Operational responsibilities include 24 X 7 support, incremental daily back-up with full weekly back-up, network security, disaster recovery support, gathering system metrics, system reconfiguration for special requests, monitoring network traffic, and redistributing system assets.

EG&G provided Internet/Intranet server system administration on Windows and UNIX platforms. EG&G performed software design and implementation of distributed client/server applications in C++ integrating CORBA, and DIS with X/Motif interfaces. They also provided system administrator support for HP-UX, and Sun workstations on Ethernet and FDDI LANs, including software configuration and control, and LAN installation and maintenance.

EG&G also provides subject matter technical expertise in support of the Common Basic Operator Training (CBOT) program including: software engineering support, trainer installation and certification, CBOT trainer design, software development, and the review and analyses of Engineering Change Proposals and Instructions for impacts to CBOT system software and software documentation. EG&G managed the software implementation and roll-out of an Enterprise Knowledge Portal (EKP). The “Yahoo” like EKP allows easy access to Web-workstyle applications and sites for personnel to complete assigned tasks and store valuable knowledge such as business processes and lessons learned.

EG&G provided programming support and jointly developed with NSWCCD the EA-6B Technical Data Center (TDC) which supports readiness, maintenance and logistics for the EA-6B aircraft and avionics systems. As a Department of the Navy eBusiness initiative, EG&G was tasked to further develop an integrated and dynamic EA-6B TDC to provide "zero-latency" access to aircraft and equipment web-workstyle decision-support tools such as multi-media documents, databases and enterprise applications.

EG&G analyzed the requirements, designed the specifications, and created and maintained numerous websites for data and documentation storage. This included a website with secure and segmented access to databases using the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol. EG&G developed databases in MS Access containing document review comments, developed a documentation review tool allowing specified users to review and comment on a draft document on line. Developed task management tools to automatically send email messages to notify users of website updates, and provided maintenance and technical support for the SLBM Distributed Graphical System Network (DGSNET) and the SLBM Internet-to-Desktop System (SIDS).

EG&G provides engineering and technical support to the Distributed Engineering Plant (DEP), a sophisticated COTS based system, encompassing nine remote sites across the country, utilizing UNIX, Windows platforms, MULTOTS, TADIL links, and other information sources to conduct Battle Force Interoperability Tests. They also perform assessment and analysis of the Atlantic Fleet’s ability to detect and react to attempts to disrupt critical classified or unclassified Command, Control, Communications or Intelligence information Systems.

EG&G also provides technical and engineering support for the implementation of open hardware and software system architecture to connect and operate a submarine’s non-propulsion electronics systems. They are currently tasked to investigate SSGN and other submarine platform Information Assurance and Security Status with respect to DoD Information Technology Security Certification and Accreditation Process (DITSCAP). Tasking requires support to provide technical expertise and guidance to NUWCDIVNPT (Codes 22 and 40) and PMS 398E personnel on tailoring the entire range of C&A activities required by DITSCAP and DoDIIS guidelines for the implementation of Information Assurance (IA) Certification & Accreditation (C&A) processes and development of System Security Authorization Agreements (SSAAs) for US Navy submarine combat systems.
