Software
TSC team members are involved in providing and generating software for the Navy. Several of team members generate operational software assessed at the SEI CMM level 3.

TSC has worked with NSWC Crane by designing custom Oracle applications and supporting migration of mature Ingress RDMS application to Oracle. TSC has generated rSecure, a software product concept for a tool to embed security and access control features into distributed multi-media resources. These resources range from distributed training packages to network-based maintenance applications. The rSecure architecture allows for enterprise-wide control functions to be locally managed and edited through a rules-based management module.

TSC supports the NSWCDD Theater Warfare Department’s system engineering efforts for the introduction of the Navy’s Open Architecture into the AEGIS Baseline 7 control computer program. TSC is developing requirements, and integrating and testing vendor-supplied software code for the AN/SPY-1D(V) radar system in various hardware configurations. TSC has been active in all software engineering aspects of this effort, including data collection and analysis, metric collection and reporting, and program debugging.

TSC supports the NSWCDD DD(X) Software Certification Team (N-14) and Radar Suite Acquisition Team (RSAT/T-41) for the Sense segment of DD(X). TSC tracks all phases of the development process (requirements, design, code, test, safety, and traceability) to assess divergences in the defined IEEE 1012 process. TSC reports weekly metrics results from the DD(X) DOORS database. Under contracts N00178-03-D-3073, N00024-96-C-5166 and N00178-98-C-2006,

Sabre software engineers perform the complete software engineering process and associated activities to respond to Fleet Software Trouble Reports. Sabre software engineers receive the software TRs, analyze them, design and implement fixes, test and distribute Fleet software releases. Sabre is leading the SEI CMM certification effort in this facility. Sabre is also a certified ISO 9001:2000 company. Sabre also supported the NAWC-AD Atlantic Ranges & Facilities (AR&F). Sabre is a fully committed partner in the AR&F efforts to achieve Software Engineering Institute (SEI) Capability Maturity Model (CMM) Level III certification. Sabre led the PAAS team that successfully achieved Level II certification. Sabre is continuing the march to Level III certification via a succeeding contract. This work was under N00421-99-A-1279 and N00412-97-D-1018

Lakota has developed (N00024-00-C-5130) an Ada translator. Currently, the only supported translation is from Ada to C++. However, due to Lakota’s approach to performing the translation via an intermediate representation that is language independent (e.g., XML), Lakota’s translation tool can rapidly be modified to target various languages. Lakota is applying this design methodology in the re-engineering of the Aegis Command and Decision Adjunct Processor currently deployed on Aegis 6 Phase 1 Cruisers. Lakota has been providing domain expertise to support efforts associated with the US Navy’s CEC, Common Command and Decision (CC&D) and Common Network Interface (CNI) programs. These programs are laying the foundation for future combat system functionality that will be developed using open standards, COTS hardware and reusable warfighting components for use within a wide variety of systems.

EG&G supervised the development of software database application projects to store, edit and retrieve data. Applications included Quality Review Requests for ISO 9001, Asset Tracking Systems, and Workload Management and Business Development Systems.
EG&G managed the development of an Oracle based Product Data Management (PDM) database structure which required the creating and porting of data from the MS SQL Server into Oracle, rewriting all SQL statements in the 650+ Cold Fusion pages into Oracle syntax, rewriting SQL stored procedures programs into Oracle PL/SQL. Upon completion of the conversion into Oracle PL/SQL format EG&G mapped the PDM users into the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) server structure. The goal of incorporating LDAP is to allow PDM to be distributed across multiple servers while seamlessly moving from one server to another.
EG&G is providing software and development support to the Navy’s High Performance Distributed Computing System (HiPer-D), a distributed, highly redundant computer networking environment that will be used on future surface combatants. Additionally, EG&G is providing the lead technical expert in Operating Systems supporting the Standards and Technologies Integrated Product Team (IPT) for the Navy Open Architecture effort, as well as the validation effort within the project.

EG&G develops and maintains software that supports the generation (at USSTRATCOM), processing and validation (at NSWCDD) of the Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile (SLBM) strategic targeting data. Also experienced in the design, development, and testing of SLBM fire control software used for fire control prelaunch computations and for the expansion of targeting change messages (TCMs) transmitted to the fleet. Our staff is an integral part of the SLBM software development team, which has been assessed at the Capability Maturity Model (CMM) Level 2.
